LanzaJet Inc.
LanzaJet is a leading sustainable fuels technology company, headquartered outside of Chicago, Illinois, USA, dedicated to accelerating the energy transition by embracing the circular economy. We are making safe, sustainable fuels from waste and low carbon sources a reality today.
We are both an established Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) technology provider, and a sustainable fuels producer. Our patented technology, combined with our extensive know-how and deeply experienced team, makes sustainable fuels a reality today. Through the use of our LanzaJetTM Alcohol-to-Jet (AtJ) technology, we are able to create SAF and renewable diesel from waste-based and sustainable ethanol sources. These sources include ethanol produced from low-carbon sugarcane, energy crops, forest residuals, agricultural wastes, organic waste, industrial waste gases, and CO2. With such a widely available starting point, feedstock is readily available and accessible around the world. In this way, we are creating a global, fully circular, carbon recycling economy to enable the decarbonization of the aviation and transportation industries.
LanzaJet was formed through the contributions of our investors which include LanzaTech, Suncor Energy Inc., Mitsui & Co., Ltd., British Airways, and Shell, with participation from ANA. We continue to accelerate our growth through new partnerships, including our recent partnership with Microsoft. Support from these leading global organizations is significantly accelerating LanzaJet’s commercial deployment and demonstrates a joint commitment to creating a resilient, lower carbon future.
LanzaJet was formally spun off from LanzaTech in 2020 under the leadership of CEO Jimmy Samartzis, but the story of our company began in 2010. The technology was first developed and extensively tested by LanzaTech and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), a US Department of Energy National Laboratory.
LanzaJet’s business model is anchored in licensing our technology and providing expert project development and operations services. We also build, own, and operate plants. We are currently building a 10M gallons per year LanzaJetTM Alcohol to Jet unit (113M liters per year) commercial production unit at our Freedom Pines site in Soperton, Georgia, which will open in 2023. We are also developing numerous other projects around the globe with our shareholders and other third parties. We have committed to having 1B gallons (2.9 million tons) of SAF capacity by 2030 in the US alone.

Electrochaea GmbH
Electrochaea is a clean technology start-up that has developed a novel technology for grid-scale energy storage known as power-to-gas. ln this two-step process, low-cost and stranded electricity from wind and solar is first converted to green hydrogen by means of water electrolysis. The hydrogen is then combined with carbon dioxide and reacted to methane, the principal component of natural gas. This methanation reaction is performed by a proprietary strain of methanogenic archaea, a single-celled organism that has been among the first living organisms on Earth.
Electrochaea’s archaea have been adapted for deployment in industrial environments and excel through high mass conversion efficiency and robustness and fast reaction kinetics. The renewable natural gas produced in this process can be injected directly into existing natural gas pipelines and stored for days, weeks or months. Once in the grid, the gas can be transported geographically to the point of end use in power production or in transportation, heating, and other industrial applications.
The company is planning to commercialize its power-to-gas technology in countries with ambitious targets for wind and solar energy such as Germany, Denmark, France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and the United States.
Backed by an international consortium of renowned investors, Electrochaea is based in Planegg by Munich (Bavaria) and currently employs over 30 talented individuals representing 11 different countries.

Thermo Fisher Scientific Geneart GmbH
Geneart AG was founded in 1999 as a spin-off of the University of Regensburg by Ralf Wagner, Marcus Graf and Hans Wolf. For the development of vaccines, Wagner needed special genes that could not be obtained on the open market and therefore had to be produced in-house. The synthesized genes provided good test results, and the scientists recognized the potential benefits of synthetic genes for research and industry. They founded the company with the goal of producing artificial genes in large volumes at low prices, making them available to all scientists worldwide. In April 2010, Geneart was acquired by the U.S. group Life Technologies for about 56 million euros. Since February 4, 2014, Life Technologies has been part of Thermo Fisher Scientific and has been operating under the name Thermo Fisher Scientific GENEART GmbH since August 10, 2015.
